Need To Add United States Passport Pages To Your Passport? Read Here
You are eligible to apply for additional US passport pages if you fall under two categories. First, you can request to add passport pages if your passport has less than two to four pages left. On the other hand, you can also apply for additional pages if you travel regularly and are in need of a new passport book. If you fall under either of these categories, then you’ll naturally want to know how to add passport pages to your current passport.
Let’s discuss the first category first. If you are a passport holder, and your passport has less than two to four pages in it, you’ll need to request additional passport pages. But why request pages so soon? That’s because it will save you a lot of time when you do that now, rather than when you are already about to travel.
In this situation, you will have to fulfill two requirements: your passport must be valid, and you need to fill in Form DS-4085. This form is what you’ll need to fill in if you need to request additional passport pages. Once you have filled in the DS-4085, you can then mail it to the address indicated, along with your current US passport.
If you’re going through the routine passport processing, then you don’t have to pay for anything to have additional passport pages. However, you can have the process expedited if you need to travel in two to four weeks’ time, which will require additional fees. Expedited passports are faster to process, and you can get your passport in around two to three weeks.
Now, on to the next situation. If you travel frequently, then chances are you quickly fill up your pasport book faster than most people. In this instance, you need to apply for a new passport book once the passport pages run out. This will require a different procedure altogether.
If you are a frequent traveler in need of a new passport book, you will have to submit a signed letter requesting for additional passport pages. Then you will also have to mail it along with the completed DS-82 form, which allows you to apply for a passport by mail. However, if you are not eligible to do this, you can fill in the DS-11, and then submit it personally at the passport office.
When submitting your form by mail, make sure that you choose a traceable method of delivery. This ensures that your documents are received by the intended recipient. Also place your documents in an envelope that isn’t easily damaged, to ensure that it is in good condition once it arrives at the passport office for processing.
For a recap, first of all, you need to know under which category you fall under – whether you just have two to four pages left in your United States passport, or you a frequent traveler in need of a new passport. From there, you’ll know the procedure that you need to go through. Now you know how to add U.S. passport pages to your US passport.
